About Us

A Brief Introduction

The Hill District Consensus Group began as a Strategic Planning Group in 1991. Representatives from the Hill Community Development Corporation, Hill District Ministries, House of the Crossroads, Hill District Federal Credit Union and the Hill House Association, as well as two active community residents, Dwayne Cooper and Mary Walker, and Richard Adams, felt there was a need to coordinate the development efforts of their respective agencies.

This group aimed to foster trust and cooperation between their agencies for the betterment of the entire community. The goal of fostering trust and cooperation soon expanded to include all of the agencies in the Hill District, including social service agencies, development organizations and businesses.

Our Mission

The mission of the Hill District Consensus Group is to work together through the differences and with the commonalities, to establish and enforce standards and processes in all aspects of community life: economic, political, spiritual, and social, for the ongoing health and prosperity of the community.

The Consensus Group created a vision for development of the Hill District and assisted in coordinating the functions of various Hill District organizations. The initial plan was created in 1996. It is the ultimate goal of the Consensus Group to prepare a Community Plan using input from all agencies in the Hill District as well as community residents. The Community Plan will be the guiding tool that sets the criteria for future development and guidelines for implementation, representing the wishes of the community with various outside agencies, businesses and organizations.

We meet on the second Friday of every month from 10 am to 12 noon in the Hill House Conference Room.
